The history of handloom industry dates back to the time immemorial. Every region of the country had created a distinct and popular traditional weave, for instance, phulkari (Punjab), ikats (Andhra and Orissa), tie and dye (Gujarat and Rajasthan), and brocades (Banaras). However, one can now witness technical and stylistic exchange between regions. After agriculture industry, Indian handloom industry has been a promising sector of huge employment. After years of slowdown, this industry is reviving because of the proactive government support & initiatives, increasing e-commerce business and consumers' preference for unique designs and fabric. Mr Subhash Ram entered into the business, because of following reasons:
Less capital intensive & minimal power usage
Availability of abundant resources, like yarns of all kinds
Continuous supply of manpower
